Recovery Stretch Therapy

RecoveryZone Orthopedic, Spine and Sports Medicine offers a medically designed and supervised Recovery Stretch that focuses on the fascia and joint capsule to achieve optimal strength, flexibility, pain relief and performance. It is a pain-free recovery method of stretching developed by our team of multidisciplinary physicians and is exclusive to RecoveryZone Orthopedic, Spine and Sports Medicine.

RZ’s Medically supervised Recovery Stretch focuses on a key part of the body that is often overlooked, the fascia. The fascia is the vast network of connective tissue that runs through the entire body. It surrounds muscles, nerves, bones, joints and organs. Many injuries and loss of flexibility, including range of motion, involve the fascia and may cause actual physical pain. The tightness in the fascia encourages unnatural motions or postures that increase the odds of minor injuries and unwanted pressure on the nervous system. Those minor injuries, in turn, may result in more unnatural motions.

RecoveryZone’s medically supervised Recovery Stretch may help reduce these pains by releasing tension in the fascia. The natural increase in flexibility will help end those unnatural motions and relieve underlying stresses in the body. Lingering tightness or tension anywhere in the body decreases circulation. By reducing tightness and tension, an RZ medically supervised Recovery Stretch will improve blood flow which in turn accelerates recovery from exercise by allowing more blood to reach the muscles faster, which improves toxin removal and makes the road to recovery a little more direct.

At RecoveryZone Orthopedic, Spine and Sports Medicine in Wall, New Jersey we strongly believe that physical therapy is not only for our post-surgery patients. Prehabilitation Therapy is extremely beneficial for those preparing for surgery. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

RecoveryZone’s PRP Orthopedic Specialist, Michael A. Palmer, M.D offers PRP orthopedic injections to Monmouth County area patients seeking an additional or alternative treatment to medication or surgery. PRP injections can help injuries heal quickly while decreasing pain and discomfort. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for orthopedics is a natural, nonsurgical treatment used to speed up the healing process following an injury or trauma. It takes advantage of the body’s own ability to heal and regenerate itself through the growth factors found in platelet rich plasma. Platelet rich plasma is simply plasma that contains more platelets than normal. By injecting a large number of cells into the site of an injury or wound the platelet rich plasma reactivates and accelerates the natural healing process.

Functional Rehabilitation

RecoveryZone Orthopedic, Spine and Sports Medicine prescribes functional rehabilitation as soon as a patient’s injury is poised for treatment. Our distinctive approach to Functional Rehabilitation, which is a specialized type of physical therapy, utilizes a multi-phase customized progression of rehabilitative steps. Their second objective is to restore/increase range of motion with the final step and intention to restore muscle strength, power and endurance. RecoveryZone, Orthopedic Spine and Sports Medicine’s functional rehabilitation, implements three-dimensional movements to strengthen isolated, previously injured muscles. EPAT® Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology

RecoveryZone Orthopedic Spine and Sports Medicine offers EPAT at their Wall, New Jersey location. The word “extracorporeal” comes from two latin roots: extra (outside) and corp (body). So, Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Treatment (EPAT) is noninvasive as it happens completely outside of the body. EPAT requires no needles, no surgery and no downtime. Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT®) is a form of ESWT (Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy) which is an evidence-based, emerging, proven treatment option for patients suffering from acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries. EPAT® uses acoustic pressure waves to safely increase metabolism and blood flow, stimulating / enhancing healing of the injury. The microtrauma induced triggers a cascade of inflammatory factors (such as cytokines and chemokines) that help regenerate the damaged tissues. These inflammatory factors are essential for healing and are present at high levels in acute injuries, but diminish or cease to exist over time in chronic injuries. Think of EPAT® as a way of pushing the “reset” button on healing.

Whole Body Cryotherapy

RecoveryZone Orthopedic, Spine and Sports Medicine is the only facility in New Jersey utilizing Medical Grade Nitrogen for Whole Body Cryotherapy treatments. Medical Whole Body cryotherapy is offered in our Wall, New Jersey facility and serves Monmouth and Ocean County and is available to patients and non patients. Cryotherapy promotes anti-inflammatory properties, which decrease soreness in a postworkout state. Full-body cryotherapy can do more in three minutes than a 60-minute massage. That enables you to recover from your workouts, no matter the intensity. Benefits include, inflammation relief, reduction of muscle soreness, less pain from sore joints and blood flow restoration. For competitive athletes, ice baths are the traditional method used to recover from a workout or competition. However, they require recovery time—up to a day before they can resume practice. But with whole-body cryotherapy, athletes recover in less time so they can resume their training faster.

Localized Cryotherapy

RecoveryZone Orthopedic, Spine and Sports Medicine offers medically supervised Localized Cryotherapy. RZ’s Localized Cryotherapy therapy is used to alleviate pain, dramatically reduce inflammation and expedite recovery. Localized Cryotherapy allows for safer and more effective treatment and has significant benefits to traditional ice packs and ice baths. The medically cryogenically cooled air penetrates the deeper layers of tissue, thereby increasing blood circulation and improved range of motion, something that traditional ice packs are unable to provide and making the road to recovery a little more direct.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

Normally, oxygen is transported throughout the body by red blood cells. By using Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT), oxygen becomes a gas and is then dissolved into all of the body’s fluids, the plasma, the central nervous system fluids, the lymph, and the bone and can be carried to areas where circulation is diminished or blocked. This way, oxygen reaches damaged tissues and the body can support its own healing process. This increased oxygen greatly enhances the ability of white blood cells to kill bacteria, reduces inflammation and allows new blood vessels to grow more rapidly into the affected areas. It’s a simple, non-invasive and painless treatment.
